"While it is far too early to predict that tablets will be the de facto personal computer (PC) in five years, they are sure off to a good start."

- "Tablet PCs: An Overnight Sensation," www.businessweek.com, February 26, 2003.

Tablets Crack The Market After All!

In early 2003, major PC vendors around the world reported brisk sales of Microsoft's1 new technological offering the Tablet PC.

News reports stated that Tablet PCs were rapidly gaining market acceptance beyond Microsoft and the vendors' expectations.

Commenting on this, Meg O'Neill, spokesperson, Fujitsu (a Japanese PC company), said, "The Tablet PC is selling like hot cakes. There are a number of companies looking at the product so they can upgrade their entire sales force from traditional laptop notebooks."2

Alexandra Leob (Leob), General Manager, (Tablet PC), said, "Tablet sales are ahead of Microsoft's most hopeful estimates."3
